Consumer Education: The Consumer Direct website contains general advice and information for consumers. The site covers areas such as shopping, money, laws, health, environment and information on how to complain about faulty goods and services.

Directgov: This site points you in the right direction for help and advice available through government and voluntary organisations. It provides information and contact details for community and voluntary organisations, training opportunities and health and fitness advice.

Office of the Public Guardian: The Office of the Public Guardian provides financial protection services for people who are not able to manage their financial affairs because of mental illness or incapacity. They also support families and advisers of the person who is mentally ill, often after someone has applied to the court to manage that person's financial affairs. Their website has information on what to do if a friend or family member can't manage their own affairs (appointing a receiver), as well as information and a helpline for questions about appointing a person to manage another person's financial affairs and property in the event of loss of capacity (enduring power of attorney).
