Warm home grants for over 60s receiving benefits
If you are over 60 and receive Pension Credit or other benefits you could get a grant to help you insulate your home and improve your heating so you can save on heating bills. The Government’s Warm Front scheme is for people who own their homes or rent from a private landlord. It provides insulation and heating improvements up to a value of £2,700 (or £4,000 if oil central heating is involved).
Improvements could include loft insulation, draughtproofing, cavity wall insulation, hot water tank insulation, installing or repairing central heating, and converting open fires so they are glass-fronted. The scheme is also open to people under 60 who receive other types of benefit.
Find out more about the grant on the Warm Front website or by calling the Energy Advice Line on 0800 027 7668. Lines are open from 9.00am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday and 9.00am to 1.00pm Saturday. Calls are free.
