New book recognises older gay people’s lives
A new book tells the stories of older gay people’s lives in Lancashire. 'Nowt So Queer' collects accounts from older gay people about their experiences, the legalisation of homosexuality and how life has changed for gay people since they were younger. It is intended to raise awareness of the issues that many lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people have faced and continue to face as they grow older.
The book is part of the Friends of Dorothy project, run in Lancashire by Age Concern. The project befriends and supports older gay people so that they get any help they need, whether they identify themselves as gay to others or not.
'Nowt So Queer' is due to be launched at the end of February at an event hosted by Lancashire Library and Information Service.
