Still frying at 100
Constance Brown, aged 100, is still working at the fish and chip shop she and her husband set up in 1928. ‘Connie’, as her customers know her, works at the shop six days a week, arriving at 9am every day to cut up the fish.
Last year Connie was awarded an MBE for services to business and the community and she has no plans to retire. As she says: “It’s what I love. So why would I want to stop?”
She also shared the secret of her long life: “Fish and chips is all I eat. I don’t eat any vegetables at all. So I’m living proof you can eat nothing but fish and chips and still be healthy.”
