Get online tomorrow for Silver Surfers' Day
Older people who want to learn about the internet and email can get lessons on Silver Surfers' Day tomorrow throughout the UK.
Events will be held throughout the UK in libraries, colleges, Age Concern centres, pubs and church halls.
Learning to use the internet can enable older people to
- shop and bank online
- research hobbies or holidays
- make new friends or keep in touch with family
- learn about and manage finances
- access government information and services
All people over the age of 50 can get involved in tomorrow's events. You can learn to surf the net and send and receive emails and attachments.
Some will also get to experience a 'live' web chat and field questions about e-government to a government representative. The chat will be led by Hackney Silver Surfers and hosted by Age Concern England. To find out more about this event, visit the Hackney Silver Surfers' Day website
Silver Surfers' Day, now in its fourth year, is part of Adult Learners' Week.
