Free services for gas and electricity customers
Three out of four energy consumers entitled to free services from gas and electricity companies don't know the services exist. energywatch is leading a concerted push to sign up the 750 000 people most in need of the Priority Service Register.
The Priority Service Register is open to people over 60 and to those with disabilities or with long-term ill health. Every gas and electricity supplier must provide a range of free, optional services under the scheme.
Consumers on the Priority Service Register benefit from extras like a secure personal password, quarterly meter readings and are able to nominate a friend, relative or carer to deal with their bills.
The Pension Service, Age Concern and The Disabled Living Foundation are actively supporting the energywatch campaign. Energy companies have also pledged to increase their promotion of the Priority Service Register.
energywatch is the independent watchdog for all gas and electricity consumers. It provides free help and advice on all gas and electricity matters. Contact energywatch on 08459 060 708 (or Typetalk 18001 08459 060708) for advice on the Priority Service Register or go to the energywatch website
